Design Engineering 12 Month Placement Scheme (Marine)

Location: Wimborne, Dorset, United Kingdom; onsite at the hirify.global facility

hirify.global manufactures construction and mining equipment, engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives. The Wimborne facility develops, tests, and produces marine propulsion engines and gensets for commercial, professional, and military customers.

What you will do

• Design marine engine systems and components for products from 10kW to over 750kW.
• Prepare system schematics and layouts.
• Perform technical calculations for marine product designs.
• Review components and subsystems with suppliers.
• Collaborate with shop-floor personnel on product assembly and manufacture.
• Take responsibility for key project deliverables while working with teams across hirify.global facilities.

Requirements

• Must be available for a full-time, 12-month placement beginning 5 July 2027 in Wimborne, United Kingdom.
• Must be in the penultimate year of study, unless enrolled in an integrated master’s programme.
• On track to achieve a minimum 2:1 honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with a participative and collaborative working style.
• Self-motivated, open-minded, adaptable, and able to solve problems and learn quickly.
