Platform Equipment Field Installation and Applications Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Newport, United Kingdom. The role involves customer-site work and international travel of up to 50%, with trips of up to four weeks and occasional weekend travel.

What you will do

• Maintain and continuously improve platform semiconductor handling hardware.
• Support hardware builds, integration, fault-finding, PLC readiness, calibration, diagnostics, and retrofit activities.
• Lead installation, commissioning, and technical resolution of new products at customer sites.
• Translate customer requirements and factory learnings into design improvements and technical specifications.
• Define hardware test strategies, validation plans, performance characterisation, and support documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional specialists to improve equipment performance, reliability, serviceability, and compliance.

Requirements

• Minimum HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics.
• Experience in manufacturing, continuous improvement, machinery safety, and safe working practices.
• Strong analytical and fault-finding skills, with the ability to work autonomously and in multidisciplinary teams.
• Fluent English in written and spoken communication is required.
• A driving licence and ability to travel throughout Europe are required.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent; 3D CAD experience is desirable.

Nice to have

• Experience in a customer-facing engineering role.
• Experience with 3D CAD and MS Office applications.
