Forward Deployed Engineer (AI/Fintech)

Location: Virtual, with a hybrid schedule expected for candidates located near hirify.global offices in Sydney, Australia or Christchurch, New Zealand; travel to client sites is required as needed, typically 25–50% depending on the engagement phase.

What you will do

• Embed with bank architecture, infrastructure, and product teams to identify modernization goals and translate business needs into technical requirements.
• Design future-state banking architectures and build trusted relationships with engineering and architecture leadership.
• Develop proofs of concept and end-to-end bank use cases, including digital twins, checking accounts, and stablecoin wallets.
• Build production-grade integrations and high-performance data pipelines connecting existing bank systems.
• Run performance tests and validate scale, resilience, and failover behavior.
• Support presales through technical demonstrations, architecture workshops, and platform education.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in a technical, customer-facing role such as Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Architect, Consultant, or Software Engineer.
• Proven experience shipping robust, scalable infrastructure using Go or similar systems languages such as Rust or Java.
• Deep knowledge of Kafka, concurrency patterns, event-driven architectures, and multi-region databases.
• Strong experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, plus SRE principles, infrastructure as code, and Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• Experience building data-intensive systems and distributed data pipelines, with the ability to apply AI, LLMs, and agentic development patterns.
• Ability to work directly with bank clients, switch between coding and architecture, lead workshops, and take ownership in ambiguous situations.

• Knowledge of financial transaction flows, core banking systems, or banking technology.
