Head of Applied AI (Generative AI/Agentic AI): Leading and growing an applied AI engineering capability that takes generative, agentic and predictive AI from prototypes into secure, governed production environments with an accent on architecture, engineering standards, consulting and commercial growth. Focus on designing reliable AI systems, guiding RAG and agent architectures, building MLOps/LLMOps and evaluation practices, and turning successful client solutions into repeatable propositions.
Location: Remote within the UK; travel to client sites, partner events and Colibri/ offices, including central London, is required when needed.

What you will do
- Lead the technical direction, standards, people, propositions and growth of the Applied AI capability.
- Lead senior client discovery, consulting and solution conversations from initial opportunity through delivery.
- Set engineering standards across architecture, testing, CI/CD, MLOps/LLMOps, evaluation, security and AI governance.
- Guide solutions from experimentation into reliable, scalable and governed production environments.
- Work with sales, pre-sales and consulting teams on solution shaping, proposals, pipeline growth and client expansion.
- Develop AI engineers and senior technical specialists while creating repeatable propositions, accelerators and reusable IP.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in modern AI engineering, including LLM-based systems, RAG, agentic or multi-agent architectures, vector databases and embeddings.
- Experience taking AI or machine learning solutions from prototype to reliable production use.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals in system design, APIs, version control, automated testing and CI/CD.
- Experience with MLOps/LLMOps, modern cloud AI platforms, responsible AI, governance and evaluation.
- Experience leading and developing technical teams while retaining strong hands-on technical credibility.
- Direct experience with senior clients, consulting or pre-sales, including discovery, solution shaping, proposals or pitches.
Nice to have
- Principal- or Director-level AI leadership experience.
- Experience in consulting, professional services or another client-led technology environment.
- Entrepreneurial experience building new capabilities, playbooks or market propositions.
