Data Scientist (AI)

Location: United Kingdom; primarily remote with occasional visits to the Bristol or London office

What you will do

• Develop, evaluate, and improve machine learning and generative AI solutions for the Digital Agent Platform.
• Apply large language models, natural language processing, retrieval, and agent-intelligence techniques to improve understanding, reasoning, personalization, and task completion.
• Design and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation solutions, embeddings, ranking, semantic search, and end-to-end knowledge-retrieval pipelines.
• Build evaluation frameworks, metrics, benchmarks, and offline and online experiments for measuring accuracy, relevance, reliability, safety, and customer experience.
• Analyze structured and unstructured data and build scalable solutions and pipelines with Python, SQL, Spark, and machine learning technologies.
• Collaborate with product, AI/ML engineering, software engineering, and data science teams to move solutions from experimentation into production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, mathematics, machine learning, analytics, or a related quantitative field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 4+ years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, applied AI, or a related analytical field.
• Experience with supervised and unsupervised machine learning, generative AI, large language models, NLP, or related modern AI technologies.
• Strong Python programming skills, SQL experience, and experience with large-scale data processing technologies.
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, or equivalent frameworks, as well as statistical analysis, experimentation, hypothesis testing, and model evaluation.
• Experience taking AI or machine learning solutions into production, with strong communication, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a quantitative or machine learning-related field.
