Principal Software Engineer, Sensor - Mac, Linux, or Windows (Hybrid) (Cybersecurity)

Location: USA - Redmond, WA; hybrid work

Salary: $195,000–$290,000 per year for U.S. candidates. A Canada-based salary range of CAD $210,000–$320,000 per year is also listed for Canadian-based employment.

Cybersecurity company developing the Falcon platform, an AI-native security solution that processes large-scale endpoint and cloud telemetry.

What you will do

• Design and develop core features for lightweight security sensors across Linux, Windows, and macOS.
• Build capabilities spanning file systems, memory, processes, networking, telemetry, and malicious-activity prevention.
• Collaborate with sensor development teams on architecture and strategic initiatives.
• Own features from initial design through delivery and present product demonstrations at sprint completion.
• Guide development teams in designing and implementing cross-platform software.
• Work cross-functionally with geographically distributed teams using Agile development practices.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of C and C++.
• Extensive understanding of Linux operating system internals.
• Experience debugging memory corruption, process contention, and system performance bottlenecks.
• Experience delivering major features and releases through cross-team collaboration.
• Ability to lead, mentor, communicate, and collaborate effectively across distributed teams.
• Experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, workflows, efficiency, and business outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience developing scalable, lightweight, high-performance systems.
• Strong expertise in operating system concepts and core subsystems.
• Knowledge of security principles and experience with eBPF.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
