Staff Software Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: US, Remote

Salary: $229,000–$270,000 annually, plus equity in the form of stock options.

hirify.global is a remote cybersecurity company developing NodeZero, a platform for autonomous penetration testing and security assessment operations.

What you will do

• Lead the technical vision and implementation of NodeZero’s defensive agents, from architecture through production delivery and iteration.
• Write production code in Python, Go, Rust, or a similar backend language within a service-oriented environment.
• Design durable execution for long-running, resumable agent runs and distributed workflows.
• Build secure authorization, tenant isolation, connector, and control-plane integration layers for write-capable agents.
• Partner with AI research, Product, and platform engineering to translate research and product goals into technical roadmaps.
• Build observability that makes agent behavior explainable and contain prompt injection and other security risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with modern object-oriented or functional languages.
• Experience building and operating cloud applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Deep production experience with agentic or LLM-backed systems and their operational failure modes.
• Expert SQL proficiency and experience operating distributed systems with asynchronous workflows, queues, retries, idempotency, and partial failure.
• Experience shipping production services and participating in on-call ownership.

Nice to have

• Experience with Temporal or another durable execution or workflow engine.
• Experience building multi-tenant platforms with hard isolation, workload identity, and short-lived credential brokering.
• Experience integrating third-party security APIs behind normalized abstractions.
• Familiarity with EDR, firewall, SIEM, and cloud IAM control planes.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Neo4j, and GraphQL backends.
