Senior Backend Software Engineer (Rust)

Location: Boulder, Colorado, United States; hybrid work with a minimum of three days per week in the office

Salary: $130,000–$171,000 USD annual base salary, plus commissions and annual equity awards

hirify.global is a space-to-cloud analytics company operating a large multi-purpose satellite constellation, global ground station network, and real-time data infrastructure for maritime, aviation, and weather tracking.

What you will do

• Develop satellite-side applications for file transfer to and from spacecraft and payloads.
• Design and implement the next generation of file transfer architecture in Rust.
• Build highly available, fault-tolerant, secure, and observable space and ground-based services.
• Own the performance and reliability of critical file transfer services across the nanosatellite fleet.
• Perform ground-based testing and in-orbit verification of new software services.
• Collaborate with communications, systems engineering, product, and internal customer teams while documenting APIs and system architectures.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Production-grade experience with at least one compiled language and proficiency in Python or an equivalent high-level language.
• Knowledge of Linux-based development, distributed systems, scalability, and high availability.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, infrastructure as code, modern CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems.
• Strong documentation, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Access to the Boulder office at least three days per week is required. US export-controlled software or technology access may be required; necessary licenses can be arranged by Spire.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Rust and Python, Bash scripting, and experience with L2/L3 protocols or applications across L3–L7 networking layers.
• Experience with NIST and FAR regulatory frameworks, cybersecurity platforms such as Wiz, or live highly available systems at scale.
• Experience with modern AI development tooling.
