Lead Building Engineer

Location: New York, USA; regular travel between properties and buildings is required.

Salary: $131,750–$155,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead engineering operations across a multi-state market and establish a local engineering leadership network.
• Coordinate quarterly engineering meetings, training, technical programs, policies, and compliance with national engineering processes.
• Support property managers and chief engineers with safety, quality assurance, sustainability, energy management, Energy Star, and energy and water tracking programs.
• Develop preventive maintenance programs and provide guidance on HVAC, MEP, fire and life safety, automation, security, and OSHA compliance.
• Coordinate critical-environment work authorizations, consultants, service providers, contract negotiations, bid reviews, and capital replacement projects.
• Analyze work order, asset, and building metrics; support RFPs, RFIs, site assessments, account transitions, and local engineering recruitment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering.
• 10 years of commercial property operations or program management experience.
• At least 3 years of management-level experience in facilities or property maintenance, building systems, project management, and supervision of skilled technical staff.
• Experience with building operations, unionized and non-unionized employees, and mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Knowledge of commercial building codes and standards, blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and BAS SOO.
• Strong communication, leadership, organization, critical thinking, reporting, presentation, Excel, database, and CMMS skills.

• Technical school training related to HVAC design and maintenance.
