Lead Building Engineer (HVAC/Electrical)

Location: Sterling, VA, United States; 100% in-office with no remote work or telecommuting

What you will do

• Lead day-to-day operation, inspection, and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, equipment readings, and corrective actions.
• Supervise service contractors and vendors, define scopes of work, and monitor contract compliance and quality.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate junior engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with tenants, property managers, contractors, and client employees to resolve operational issues.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, fire and life safety requirements, building codes, and company safety procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Five to seven years of industry-related experience or equivalent certification or trade experience.
• At least one year of supervisory, training, or mentoring experience.
• CFC certification preferred or willingness to obtain it; required engineering and trade licenses must be held according to applicable requirements.
• In-depth knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC, electrical controls, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, CMMS, energy management software, blueprints, and code requirements.
• Ability to read and write English, work after hours, weekends, holidays, and emergencies, and perform physically demanding tasks including climbing ladders and lifting up to 50 pounds.
