Building Engineer

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Onsite building operations role. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Salary: $80,000–$93,600 annually, or $38.46–$45.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Monitor, maintain, inspect, and repair mechanical, plumbing, electrical, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, control, heating, and cooling systems.
• Perform preventive and emergency maintenance to extend the service life of building machinery and systems.
• Maintain energy management programs and ensure systems operate efficiently within required environmental conditions.
• Review fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing, and other building systems for compliance with design capabilities, codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Handle hazardous materials safely and maintain a clean, safe workplace.
• Apply technical judgment to complex assignments, provide solutions, coach colleagues, and support consensus across related teams.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 4–5 years of job-related experience; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
• Ability to meet physical requirements, including standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, stooping, and lifting or carrying loads of 50 pounds or more.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to analyze information from multiple sources, exercise judgment, and develop new perspectives on existing solutions.
• Strong organizational, inquisitive, and mathematical skills for moderately complex calculations.
• Current authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
