Product Designer Intern (AI)

Location: On-site in Redwood City, California, US; Bay Area candidates only. No relocation is provided. OPT/CPT requirements can be supported.

Salary: $3,500–$5,000 per month.

What you will do

• Design user flows and interfaces for building, testing, and managing AI voice agents.
• Take scoped projects from concepts and wireframes through polished designs.
• Create interactive prototypes and reusable components in Figma.
• Collaborate with engineers to ship features, clarify edge cases, and maintain design quality.
• Identify UX friction and visual inconsistencies, proposing practical improvements.
• Contribute patterns and documentation to the design system.

Requirements

• Current student or recent graduate in design, HCI, or a related field; Bay Area eligibility required.
• Portfolio demonstrating product thinking, visual craft, and clear design decisions.
• Comfort with Figma interfaces, reusable components, and interactive prototypes.
• Strong understanding of usability, hierarchy, visual clarity, typography, spacing, and interaction states.
• Ability to explain design decisions, receive feedback, iterate, and work through ambiguity.
• Interest in AI and close collaboration with designers, engineers, and founders.

Hiring process

• Recruiter introduction call covering background, motivation, availability, and role alignment.
• Design first round with a portfolio walkthrough and discussion of design decisions.
• Final design round with a live UX question or brief design exercise.
