Quantity Surveyor / Estimator (NZ Construction)

Location: Remote from Metro Manila, Philippines; availability required for 30–40 hours per week during New Zealand business hours.

Salary: PhP 75,000 per month, negotiable for the right candidate.

Construction business supporting a New Zealand contractor delivering commercial projects, high-end architectural homes, renovations, retail and hospitality fit-outs, and foundation projects.

What you will do

• Review drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documents and complete detailed quantity take-offs.
• Prepare labour, material, subcontractor and preliminary cost estimates, quotations and tender submissions.
• Coordinate supplier and subcontractor pricing, procurement requirements, lead times and project schedules.
• Prepare, price and track variations, including their impact on budgets, forecasts and final accounts.
• Track actual costs against estimates and budgets, complete back costing, and identify overruns and margin risks.
• Support project coordination, administration, document control and communication with clients and project partners.

Requirements

• Previous experience in the New Zealand construction industry is required, including knowledge of local construction methods, terminology, documentation and pricing.
• Experience across both residential and commercial construction projects, with quantity surveying, estimating or construction cost-management responsibilities.
• Ability to complete accurate quantity take-offs, detailed quotations, tender submissions and practical project schedules.
• Experience comparing supplier and subcontractor pricing, managing variations, tracking project costs and completing back costing.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and practical experience with CostX or comparable estimating software.
• Strong professional English and availability during New Zealand business hours are required.

Nice to have

• Qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience with high-end architectural residential projects, commercial construction, retail or hospitality fit-outs.
• Knowledge of New Zealand building products, suppliers and subcontractor markets.
• Experience with procurement schedules, project forecasting, final accounts or construction coordination.
• Previous remote experience supporting a New Zealand construction business.
