Senior Commercial Underwriter (Commercial Auto)

Location: Remote - Ohio; applicants outside the Greater Cleveland area must have prior experience working remotely from a home office 100% of the time.

Salary: $90,000–$150,000 annually.

What you will do

• Assess and price endorsements, renewals, and new commercial transportation business within underwriting guidelines and delegated authority.
• Underwrite general liability, commercial auto, physical damage, umbrella/excess, property, crime, motor truck cargo, contingent auto, and cargo risks.
• Review new business and renewal quotes before policy issuance and ensure accurate, timely policy preparation.
• Order and review inspection reports to evaluate risk quality and confirm exposure accuracy.
• Communicate underwriting standards and requirements to brokers while managing assigned broker and agent relationships.
• Document underwriting decisions and delegate tasks to underwriting assistants when needed.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a Transportation Underwriter in a multi-state, multi-line commercial insurance environment.
• Strong property and casualty underwriting knowledge, with a focus on Commercial Auto.
• Advanced knowledge of ISO commercial class codes, CLM rules, forms, rating, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting and pricing principles, with the ability to make decisions based on program criteria and strategy.
• Remote applicants outside the Greater Cleveland area must be able to work from a home office 100% of the time.
