Mechanical Engineer (Consumer Electronics)

Location: Taiwan, with hybrid work in the XinYi District office in Taipei; up to 10% local and international travel to partners and the US headquarters.

hirify.global is an early-stage consumer electronics startup building upgradeable, customizable, and repairable laptops and a marketplace for modular parts.

What you will do

• Own mechanical design for modules and complete systems from ideation through prototyping, NPI, documentation, and production.
• Create parts, assemblies, 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and 3D-printed prototypes.
• Manage ODMs and external partners, improving product quality and durability across new and sustaining products.
• Collaborate with designers and engineers in Taiwan and the US to develop and test new product concepts.
• Manage DFM, NPI builds, and design-of-experiments activities with manufacturing partners.
• Resolve factory and customer quality issues while evaluating new technologies, processes, and suppliers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience with complex electronics products.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading mechanical product development from initial concept through production.
• Strong CAD skills, including tolerance analysis, FMEA, and simulation.
• Experience with plastic and metal parts, enclosures, tooling, final assembly, reliability testing, and mass-production processes such as injection molding, die casting, forming, extrusion, and high-volume CNC.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills and the ability to collaborate across time zones.
