Lead Mechanical Engineer (Robotics)

What you will do

• Own the mechanical architecture of wearable data collection platforms, including head-worn and body-worn devices.
• Define mechanical requirements for optics, electrical, and compute teams, including thermal limits, mass allocation, and keep-out budgets.
• Manage build and tooling strategy, including vendor selection and production commitment.
• Establish mechanical standards for design reviews, tolerance analysis, and DFM expectations.
• Stay hands-on by building, testing, and analyzing prototypes on real users.
• Grow the mechanical engineering team through mentorship and hiring.

Requirements

• Exceptional mechanical intuition regarding forces, materials, and mechanisms.
• Proven experience owning the end-to-end mechanical architecture of a shipped wearable or consumer device.
• Deep expertise in packaging sensors, compute, and batteries in space-constrained enclosures.
• Extensive knowledge of injection molding, polymer selection, and tooling processes.
• Proficiency in soft goods, textiles, and skin-contact ergonomics.
• High proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Catia, or NX.
