Mechanical Engineer, New Product Introduction (NPI) Team Lead

Location: Onsite in Rochester, New York, with up to 25% travel

Salary: $106,000–$159,000 per year, plus potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentives

What you will do

• Lead the New Product Introduction team’s daily priorities, resource planning, and project execution.
• Coach team members and support recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and professional development.
• Direct multidisciplinary projects from feasibility and prototyping through pilot builds, production launch, and manufacturing handoff.
• Oversee mechanical designs, drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, technical documentation, and drawing packages.
• Lead design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly reviews, prototype builds, tolerance analysis, testing, and design validation.
• Partner with manufacturing, sourcing, trades, external builders, engineering teams, and clients while developing schedules, cost estimates, proposals, and risk-mitigation plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least seven years of mechanical engineering experience supporting new product introduction and at least five years using SolidWorks or a comparable 3D CAD platform.
• Experience with concept development, prototyping, design for manufacturability, design for assembly, production launch, tolerance analysis, testing, and iterative design validation.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, molding, extrusion, or casting.
• Experience leading complex multidisciplinary projects and communicating with technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Ability to work onsite in Rochester, New York and travel up to 25%.

Nice to have

• Experience leading technical teams.
• Familiarity with product data management systems, FEA, CFD, or multiphysics simulation.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous-improvement methods.
• Professional Engineer license or eligibility for licensure.
