Controller (Semiconductor)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; onsite role.

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 per year base pay in California.

What you will do

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and maintain accurate books under U.S. GAAP.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting packages, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Lead the accounting function, supervise and mentor the Senior Accountant, and oversee Accounts Payable workflows.
• Administer QuickBooks, improve accounting workflows, document procedures, and support future ERP planning.
• Manage stock option and equity compensation accounting, including coordination between Carta and the general ledger, ASC 718 expense, 409A valuations, and capitalization records.
• Coordinate audits, support tax filings and compliance, build internal controls, and partner with leadership on budgeting, fundraising, and investor reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and advanced QuickBooks experience.
• Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes and supervising accounting personnel.
• Strong Excel, financial reporting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Must work onsite in Sunnyvale, California; visa sponsorship is not currently supported.

• Experience in venture-backed technology, semiconductor, hardware, software, AI, or high-growth companies.
• Experience with financial statement audits, startup scaling, and accounting control implementation.
• Experience with Carta, ASC 718, 409A valuations, equity incentive plans, investor reporting, or fundraising due diligence.
• Familiarity with ERP implementations and finance system upgrades.
