QA Engineering, Staff

Location: McLean, Virginia; hybrid schedule with 3 days per week onsite. Candidates based in the Tysons vicinity are prioritized.

Annual base salary: $118,000–$1,173,000 USD.

What you will do

• Own quality strategy, test frameworks, priorities, and deployment gates across multiple engineering teams.
• Build and maintain Java and JUnit integration test suites integrated with Jenkins pipelines.
• Develop Python tools and SQL queries to compare datasets, parse logs and JSON payloads, and identify missing or malformed pipeline data.
• Implement REST API tests that handle delayed and asynchronous data processing.
• Partner with backend engineers to create permanent automated checks and communicate defect priorities and root causes.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in backend, integration, and data QA or SDET roles.
• Hands-on SQL experience for inspecting session data and converting manual checks into repeatable automated tests.
• Experience developing Python tooling for JSON parsing, log analysis, data comparison, and failure reporting.
• Experience testing RESTful services with delayed or asynchronous data delivery.
• Experience with Java, JUnit, Jenkins, CI/CD, AWS services such as S3, cloud logs, and release pass/fail gates.

Nice to have

• Experience testing analytics or observability products.
• Contract or schema testing across distributed services and message queues such as Apache Kafka.
• Experience with Azure or GCP, Selenium or Playwright, and Cucumber with JUnit.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools for test automation.
