Staff Software Development Engineer in Test (AI)

Compensation: $250,400–$465,100 USD annual total target compensation

What you will do

• Design and execute scalable performance, backpressure, and stress-testing harnesses for REST, gRPC, CDC, Kafka, and RabbitMQ ingestion connectors.
• Build automated test suites across AWS and Azure for real-world connector data flows under degraded network conditions and extreme concurrency.
• Implement fault-injection pipelines covering schema drift, network partitions, rate limits, and authentication failures.
• Use Kubernetes to orchestrate transient, high-concurrency test clusters and mock target endpoints at scale.
• Validate multi-source data integration pipelines processing petabyte-scale throughput and ensure zero-data-loss execution.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering or SDET experience.
• Professional experience with C++, Java, Go, or Python.
• Deep knowledge of streaming architectures, Kafka, Event Hubs, queueing systems, and API protocols including gRPC, WebSockets, and REST.
• Hands-on proficiency with AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes, including Helm, custom controllers, or Kubernetes operators.
• Experience building distributed load-generation tools such as Locust, k6, or custom Go/Java engines.
• Ability to work in a hybrid role based in San Jose, California.
