Director, Data Engineering (AI)

Compensation range: $220,000–$440,000 annually

What you will do

• Own the design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise data platforms and pipelines supporting analytics, AI/ML workloads, and real-time decision-making.
• Lead and mentor data engineering teams, establishing technical standards, code review practices, and career development paths.
• Partner with data science, analytics, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable and maintainable data solutions.
• Drive cloud migration, data warehouse consolidation, and real-time data mesh modernization initiatives.
• Build data governance, quality, security, monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks.
• Align data platform strategy with broader AI and business transformation roadmaps.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on data engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a lead or senior individual contributor role owning platform architecture and team scope.
• Deep experience with modern data stack tools, including Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Airflow, dbt, Dagster, Kafka, and Spark.
• Experience designing and scaling production data infrastructure for AI/ML and analytics workloads, including data quality and governance.
• Experience leading or growing engineering teams, mentoring engineers, and setting technical direction.
• Strong systems thinking across performance, cost, maintainability, and security trade-offs.
• Clear communication skills for explaining technical architecture to non-technical stakeholders and cross-functional peers.
