Senior Civil Engineer

Location: Robot Ranch, Austin, TX; on-site. Relocation to Austin, TX is required if not within commuting distance.

What you will do

• Own civil engineering design decisions from concept through stamped final drawings.
• Create and review site designs, grading plans, and civil drawings while reducing errors, change orders, and revisions.
• Identify value engineering opportunities involving lower-cost materials, methods, and design changes.
• Translate civil design intent into execution plans for automated and remote-controlled construction equipment.
• Mentor junior civil engineers working on modeling, cut/fill analysis, and design execution.
• Work with customers, stakeholders, permitting authorities, and civil authorities to resolve design and compliance issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Active PE license with authority to stamp and sign drawings.
• 8+ years of civil engineering experience, including ownership of designs from concept through stamped final drawings.
• Hands-on experience with earthwork design, grading, and site civil engineering on executed construction projects.
• Demonstrated success identifying value engineering opportunities that produced measurable cost savings.
• Willingness to work on-site in Austin, TX, relocate if necessary, and work extended hours or travel to job sites when critical deadlines require it.

Nice to have

• Experience working directly with clients on design decisions and cost tradeoffs.
• Experience mentoring or leading civil engineers.
• Familiarity with GPS or machine control grading systems and automated construction technology.
• Experience across commercial, industrial, government, or defense projects.
• Comfort challenging established design norms and improving traditional civil execution.
