Location: South San Francisco, California, United States

Base salary: $90,000–$115,000 annually, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

  • Prepare DNA and RNA sequencing libraries for Illumina platforms using methods including TruSeq, Nextera, and amplicon workflows.
  • Operate, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot MiSeq, NextSeq, and NovaSeq sequencers.
  • Execute single-cell workflows, including 10x Genomics GEM-X and 10x Flex assays.
  • Perform input-material, library, and post-sequencing quality control using Bioanalyzer, TapeStation, Qubit, qPCR, and sequencing metrics.
  • Develop and optimize NGS protocols and scalable automated or high-throughput sequencing pipelines.
  • Support cloning and viral production pipelines, run analysis workflows such as bcl2fastq and CellRanger, and document experiments in electronic lab notebooks.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Biotechnology, or a related field, with 2+ years of laboratory experience including direct NGS work.
  • Proficiency in Illumina library preparation for DNA and RNA, including understanding of assay design and underlying biochemistry.
  • Hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting Illumina sequencers.
  • Experience with nucleic-acid and library quality control, including fragment analysis, fluorometric quantification, and library quantification.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, experimental troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across molecular biology, computational science, and platform teams while supporting multiple projects.

Nice to have

  • Experience with 10x Genomics GEM-X or Flex assays.
  • Knowledge of vector design, PCR, Gibson or Golden Gate assembly, and bacterial transformation.
  • Experience with automated or high-throughput NGS library preparation platforms.
  • Familiarity with Benchling, BaseSpace, cloud-based LIMS, sequencing file formats, demultiplexing, and NGS QC metrics.
