Staff Scientist (NGS Genomics)

Location: On-site in Sunnyvale, California, USA

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 annually, plus bonus or incentive pay

hirify.global’s Integrated DNA Technologies develops genomics products and supports researchers working across cancer, infectious disease, rare genetic disorders, and other life sciences applications.

What you will do

• Design and conduct bench experiments advancing nucleic acid science and nucleic acid biochemistry.
• Develop and characterize new genomics products using wet-lab and dry-lab skills.
• Support commercial Next Generation Sequencing products as a subject matter expert.
• Lead complex projects that may involve multiple team members.
• Present experimental product demonstrations at scientific conferences.
• Collaborate with research, product management, marketing, customer service, technical support, and external research partners.

Requirements

• M.Sc. in life sciences or a related discipline with 8+ years of NGS product development experience, or a Ph.D. with 5+ years of NGS product development experience.
• Extensive scientific knowledge and broad laboratory skills for complex bench experiments.
• Strong knowledge of NGS library preparation chemistry for applications including RNA sequencing, methylation, and target enrichment.
• Experience with molecular biology, cell biology, biochemical, and general laboratory techniques.
• Ability to work in a laboratory environment for extended periods and occasionally lift or move equipment up to 10 lb.
• Ability to travel to other IDT sites or scientific conferences occasionally, at less than 5%.

Nice to have

• Python programming and basic bioinformatics tools.
• Experience operating automated liquid handlers and modifying workflows with vendor assistance.
