Associate Scientist I (Molecular Biology)

Location: On-site in South Plainfield, New Jersey, United States. Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM EST.

Salary: $46,000–$58,000 per year.

What you will do

• Conduct molecular biology experiments in a regulated laboratory environment.
• Receive, process, and store samples, including cell pellets, viruses, and stool specimens, in a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory.
• Perform nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR, dPCR, DNA purification, and Sanger sequencing reaction preparation.
• Maintain accurate wet-bench documentation and laboratory records while following standard operating procedures.
• Prepare buffers, maintain equipment and inventory, and keep the laboratory clean and operational.
• Collaborate with team leaders and coworkers to meet customer turnaround times and assist with basic troubleshooting.

Requirements

• BS or BA in Biological Sciences.
• At least 1 year of related laboratory experience.
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and respond to situations with urgency.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow laboratory SOPs closely and work independently as part of a team.
• Ability to work on-site in South Plainfield, New Jersey, Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM EST.

Nice to have

• Experience in a Sanger sequencing laboratory.
