Electrical Testing Technologist 1 (EV)

Location: Surrey, BC, Canada; onsite laboratory role

Salary: $75,994 CAD annual starting salary at the Trainee level, increasing to approximately $92,570 CAD annually after the four-year program

What you will do

• Perform electrical testing, applied research, analysis, and failure analysis for electrical and electronic components and equipment.
• Develop or modify test procedures, equipment, and methods for new, unusual, or specialized testing requirements.
• Write technical reports, equipment instructions, and safe-use procedures based on test and analysis results.
• Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and maintain electrical and electronic test equipment, data acquisition and control systems, mechanical components, and chemical analyzers.
• Liaise with clients and prospective clients to plan laboratory tests and explain testing costs and timelines.
• Provide technical leadership or direction to employees when required.

Requirements

• Diploma from an ASTTBC-recognized institute in electronics, electrical, power, telecommunications, instrumentation, mechatronics and robotics, automation, or a related discipline.
• Four years of related experience; candidates without the required experience may be considered for the Electrical Testing Technologist 1 Trainee pathway.
• Knowledge of electrical and electronic testing, high-voltage and high-power testing, circuit analysis, testing standards, quality assurance, calibration, maintenance, and repair.
• Ability to interpret and adapt laboratory testing procedures, modify test methods, analyze results, and prepare technical reports.
• ASTTBC or equivalent regulatory registration as a Technologist (AScT), or eligibility to register and complete registration requirements within one year of hire.
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence and physical ability to work around hazardous materials, noise, heights, confined spaces, outdoor conditions, and occasional heavy lifting.
