Electrical Engineer/Designer (Industrial Control Systems)

Location: Burlington, Ontario, Canada; the role includes on-site project activities and 30–50% travel.

Salary: CAD 85,000–100,000 per year, plus benefits, bonuses, and additional extra-hours payments.

What you will do

• Design, develop, analyze, and specify electrical control systems, associated hardware, safety systems, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Create bidding materials, project scopes, budgets, work plans, and user and system design specifications.
• Perform risk assessments, material procurement coordination, panel fabrication specifications, technical surveys, inspections, and reporting.
• Troubleshoot electrical installations, support commissioning, and prepare commissioning summaries for client approval.
• Coordinate contractors, including bidding meetings, site walkthroughs, schedules, permits, safety compliance, quality, and budget monitoring.
• Make independent technical and budget-related decisions on complex assignments and mentor less experienced designers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical education.
• 6+ years of experience designing electrical control systems.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical design and its effects on other engineering disciplines.
• Experience with complex studies, analyses, technical decisions, long-range objectives, and budgets.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, and technical adaptation skills.
• Willingness to travel 30–50%.

Nice to have

• Experience mentoring junior or less experienced system designers.
• Knowledge of Industrial IT and Systems Design.
