Salary: $63,000–$70,000 CAD per year, based on experience

What you will do

  • Execute air-sensitive experiments to develop and optimize chemical processes according to experimental plans.
  • Perform small-scale engineering runs, process scale-down activities, characterization studies, and robustness studies.
  • Analyze process samples using NMR, GC, HPLC, and related analytical methods.
  • Document experiments, observations, results, process risks, and technical recommendations.
  • Provide technical input for scale-up from laboratory to pilot and manufacturing environments, including control strategies and operating windows.
  • Communicate technical findings across functions through written reports and presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Synthetic Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
  • At least 1 year of experience in process development, process scale-up, manufacturing, laboratory, or pilot plant environments.
  • Experience with pilot plant operations, chemical processing equipment, and laboratory or bench-scale work.
  • Knowledge of process safety methodologies and the safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.
  • Strong analytical, data analysis, modeling, problem-solving, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and follow established procedures and safety standards.

Nice to have

  • Experience in semiconductor materials, specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, advanced materials, or related industries.
  • Hands-on experience with synthesis reactions, reaction optimization, distillation, purification, and bench-scale organometallic chemistry.
  • Experience with Aspen, Visimix, or similar process modeling software.
  • Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma, Stage-Gate, or other structured product and process development frameworks.
