Engineering Technician (Electromechanical Systems)

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA; onsite role with up to 30% travel

What you will do

• Design, build, validate, deploy, and maintain rack-level electromechanical systems, including mechanical structures, PDUs, controls, cabling, and monitoring hardware.
• Perform system assembly, subsystem integration, upgrades, testing, and structured root-cause analysis.
• Develop and implement test plans for electrical, thermal, acoustic, regulatory, qualification, and product validation requirements.
• Analyze and document test results and recommend improvements to performance, manufacturability, and release readiness.
• Own Ann Arbor Rack Lab operations, including equipment readiness, tool calibration, consumables inventory, safety, compliance, and 5S practices.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of related experience in hardware development, system integration, assembly, testing, or lab operations.
• Hands-on experience with rack-level or complex electromechanical infrastructure, power distribution systems, controls, cabling, and related hardware.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and component specifications.
• Experience developing test plans and performing validation and qualification testing.
• Strong communication, documentation, organizational, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience with lab operations, safety compliance, 5S, and EHS; ability to travel up to 30%.

Nice to have

• Ability to independently perform system bring-up, integration, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis across mechanical and electrical systems.
