TL;DR
Optical Fabrication Technician (precision optics/manufacturing): Fabricating and inspecting high-precision optical components for semiconductor photolithography machines with an accent on CNC machining, grinding and polishing, optical coating, assembly, and metrology. Focus on detecting minute defects, maintaining cleanroom and safety standards, and improving quality, output, and cycle time across demanding twelve-hour shifts.

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; on-site manufacturing and cleanroom work. Shift: Back End Days, 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and alternate Wednesday. A compressed work week with twelve-hour shifts and three to four working days per week is required. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and legally authorized to access controlled technology.

What you will do

  • Operate and take ownership of optical processing equipment while supporting production schedules.
  • Fabricate optical components through CNC machining, grinding, polishing, coating, alignment, assembly, and metrology activities.
  • Handle, clean, inspect, and map delicate glass surfaces to identify minute defects and contamination.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and the processing area according to 5S, safety, and quality standards.
  • Escalate unsafe conditions and product or process concerns, document work accurately, and support problem resolution.
  • Collaborate with Production Engineering and Manufacturing Management on continuous improvement, training, safety, quality, output, and cycle time.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous manufacturing experience or vocational certification preferred; an associate degree in a vocational trade is also preferred.
  • Ability to read gauges, measuring devices, mathematical and geometrical data, and document problems using facts and data.
  • Experience with microscopes, calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines, or interferometers is desirable.
  • Must be willing to work the specified twelve-hour compressed shift and in a cleanroom with full gowning.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and meet controlled-technology access requirements.
