Senior Staff Engineer, Software (Biotech)

Location: Menlo Park, California, United States; onsite work and visits to hirify.global locations may be required.

Salary: $195,900–$293,900 per year

What you will do

• Own and deliver business-critical instrument control software across multiple sequencing-platform subsystems.
• Drive technical design and hands-on implementation for complex, high-risk software areas using C#/.NET.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and systems engineering teams on hardware-software integration.
• Resolve systemic performance, reliability, scalability, and technical-debt issues.
• Lead design and code reviews, influence system architecture, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in C#/.NET and proficiency in Python.
• Experience with real-time or embedded systems, hardware-software integration, instrument control software, user interfaces, and system-level integrations.
• Experience with robotics, optical systems, environmental sensors, motion control, RESTful APIs, and Linux environments.
• Current authorization to work in the United States without present or future sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• Experience developing scientific instrumentation or working in life sciences, biotech, medical devices, or regulated environments.
• Master’s degree or higher in a technical field.
• Experience with firmware, FPGA interfaces, Agile development, DevOps, CI/CD, and automated testing frameworks.
