Senior Engineer, New Product Introduction (Metrology)

Location: Menlo Park, California, United States; onsite Monday-Friday. The role requires work in a clean room or laboratory environment and may include 15% international travel.

Salary: $112,000–$168,000 per year.

What you will do

• Develop, improve, and sustain wafer metrology processes for R&D and high-volume manufacturing.
• Provide hands-on technical and data support for production-line metrology activities and proprietary in-house tools.
• Partner with R&D, quality assurance, manufacturing, supply chain, and external vendors to deliver engineering projects and production targets.
• Design and execute DOE and SPC analyses to identify physical failure mechanisms and improve yield and quality.
• Perform MSA, process capability analysis, FMEA, and GR&R studies.
• Prepare technical documentation including statements of work, work instructions, IQOQ and TMV protocols and reports, deviations, ECOs, and NCRs.

Requirements

• Typically 4–8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 2–6 years with a master’s degree, or 0–5 years with a PhD.
• Degree in applied physics, optics, materials science, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Experience with semiconductor wafer metrology and proficiency in an electro-optical laboratory environment.
• Significant proficiency with JMP, MATLAB, SQL, and Python, plus strong data-analysis skills.
• Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing, NPI, CAPA, FMEA, SPC, and lean manufacturing.
• Must have current authorization to work in the United States without present or future sponsorship. Ability to work onsite Monday-Friday, in a clean room or lab, and lift up to 40 pounds is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with silicon photonic wafer metrology.
• Experience with consumable chip NPI for sequencing technology.
• Knowledge of biochemistry and/or next-generation sequencing.
