Principal Product Engineer (Optics)

Salary: $136,880–$205,000 per year, plus bonus and equity plans.

What you will do

• Participate early in new product introduction with a focus on manufacturing process development.
• Define and champion Design for Manufacturing requirements across cross-functional teams to support product scalability and reliability.
• Lead the transition of advanced optical designs into high-volume production.
• Drive manufacturing readiness, product characterization, and PFMEA activities.
• Own yield roadmaps, cost analysis, and continuous yield improvement.
• Collaborate with product and test engineering, failure analysis, supply chain, reliability, and quality teams.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Photonics, Physics, or a related engineering field, with 5–10 years of relevant experience.
• Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with silicon photonics, co-packaged optics, and high-speed components such as lasers, detectors, and modulators.
• Experience with troubleshooting and analytical work using JMP Scripting, Python, or SQL for automated yield monitoring and database querying.
• Proven experience in module or device testing, characterization, and volume production transfer.
• Strong technical ownership, flexibility, and the ability to influence global cross-functional partners.
• Eligibility to access export-controlled technology or software may be required; applicants may be subject to an export license review.
