Product Development Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; onsite role with occasional travel

Salary: $117,800–$200,300 annually

What you will do

• Define system architecture, requirements, and test plans with marketing and engineering.
• Collaborate with functional groups to define and review optical, electromechanical, and other subsystem designs.
• Create and execute tests, analyze results, and validate system performance.
• Troubleshoot system and subsystem issues and implement solutions with engineering teams.
• Support customers in building, using, and optimizing inspection tools, including leading troubleshooting efforts in manufacturing and the field.
• Communicate technical information across functional groups and provide reports to management and customers.

Requirements

• Engineering or physical science background with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Doctorate with no related experience, master's degree with 3 years of related experience, or bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience.
• Understanding of optical and electromechanical systems and their interactions in complex industrial equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills in optics, opto-mechanics, and motion control systems.
• Familiarity with scientific, statistical, and software tools such as Matlab and JMP.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced program and respond effectively to internal and field escalations.

Nice to have

• Experience with scripting languages such as Python.
