Project Engineer II (Aerospace)

Location: Lone Tree, Colorado, United States; primarily office or hybrid work with occasional travel to customer or field locations

Salary: $165,010.21–$226,889.04 per year, plus performance-based annual incentive pay

What you will do

• Manage project activities across the product lifecycle from initial design concepts through final delivery.
• Direct structural architecture, detailed design, finite element analysis, and aerothermal analysis for missile bodies, control surfaces, and internal mounting structures.
• Lead material selection and trade studies for high dynamic pressure, aerodynamic heating, and high-temperature operating environments.
• Collaborate with Propulsion, GNC/Actuation, and Mass Properties teams to maintain structural margins, aeroelastic stability, outer mold line fidelity, and volume allocations.
• Plan and direct static-load, vibration/shock, thermal-structural, and control-surface deployment test campaigns.
• Lead airframe technical content for formal government milestone reviews and interface with customers and program management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field; a higher relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• 10+ years of engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Experience with structural, mechanical, or airframe design and analysis for flight-vehicle development programs.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, requirements management, system design, and integration.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary design and development teams.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with project management tools, methodologies, estimates, technical proposals, and cost and schedule management.
• Experience leading complex baseline definition, integrated trade studies, and analysis of alternatives.
• Experience with supersonic missile airframe structures, aero-thermo-elastic analysis, flutter/divergence, and flight-load generation.
• Knowledge of high-temperature materials, composite manufacturing, and missile mechanism integration.
• INCOSE experience or certification and aerospace and defense industry background.
