TL;DR
System Engineer III (Aerospace): Developing and sustaining aerospace systems through product architecture, requirements definition, verification, and validation with an accent on model-based systems engineering, regulatory compliance, and multi-physics simulation. Focus on decomposing requirements, building system models and use cases, solving technical issues through root-cause analysis, and coordinating cross-functional product development.

Location: Burbank, California, United States; onsite standard office and manufacturing environment

Salary: $131,000–$154,000 per year

Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components for aerospace and defense applications, including aircraft, satellites, missiles, and unmanned aerial systems.

What you will do

  • Develop new aerospace and electronics products, modernization programs, upgrades, and sustaining engineering solutions.
  • Define product architectures, decompose requirements, and manage requirements flow-down to functional engineering groups.
  • Create and maintain Model-Based Systems Engineering models, simulations, use cases, and what-if analyses.
  • Plan and manage engineering activities, schedules, budgets, performance targets, manufacturability, quality, and reliability.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for technical issues and support product verification and validation.
  • Prepare technical reports, procedures, analyses, and product development documentation while collaborating with engineering, operations, quality, and business teams.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant engineering experience and a BA or BS degree in an engineering discipline; Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience developing systems using recognized aerospace processes such as ARP4754.
  • Experience with DO-178, DO-254, and DO-160.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles, requirements management, system architecture, design, validation, and verification.
  • Experience with multi-physics modeling and simulation, such as Simulink, and familiarity with software development life cycles.
  • Proficient written and verbal English is required for technical reports, presentations, analyses, and organizational communication.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Experience applying artificial intelligence to engineering or aerospace systems.
  • Working knowledge of requirements management tools such as DOORS.
