Technical Project Manager II-GSE (Aerospace)

Location: Texas project sites and Firefly's north Austin headquarters; on-site presence is required during critical milestones, with travel of up to 30%. U.S. Person status or eligibility for required U.S. export authorizations is required due to ITAR/EAR regulations.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end execution of $1M–$20M+ capital projects for test fixtures, test stands, and launch sites.
• Lead interdisciplinary engineering teams across mechanical, electrical, fluids, structures, and controls disciplines.
• Resolve technical conflicts, evaluate design alternatives, and approve engineering calculations, drawings, models, specifications, P&IDs, and schematics.
• Manage scope, schedules, budgets, resource allocation, risks, dependencies, change control, and critical paths.
• Coordinate engineering, construction, procurement, contractors, vendors, operations, and regulatory stakeholders.
• Integrate instrumentation, control, data acquisition, and safety systems and support transition from construction to active test operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3–5 years of experience managing complex technical projects and capital infrastructure projects.
• Experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets, complex schedules, and cross-functional teams of 10+ people.
• Ability to evaluate engineering analyses, drawings, and specifications and make technical trade-off decisions.
• Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6, plus CAD and engineering drawing interpretation.
• U.S. Person status or eligibility for required U.S. export authorizations is required. Ability to travel up to 30% and support extended hours during critical milestones.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, defense, energy, or petrochemical industries, especially with rocket engine test stands, launch pads, or propulsion facilities.
• Knowledge of cryogenic fluids, high-pressure gas systems, propellant handling, rocket operations, and test safety systems.
• PMP, PgMP, Scrum Master, Lean, Six Sigma, or related certification.
• Experience with Design-Build or EPC delivery, permitting, environmental review, regulatory approvals, EVM, or aerospace standards.
• Experience with thermal modeling, CFD, structural FEA, ASME, NFPA, AS9100, ISO 9001, Odoo, or similar systems.
