Heavy Equipment Technician

What you will do

• Repair and maintain heavy equipment, compact equipment, light service equipment, and light trucks.
• Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, chassis, drivelines, body components, hydraulics, brakes, electrical systems, suspension, wheels, tires, and undercarriages.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and engine overhauls.
• Read equipment condition reports and repair orders, clarify defects, and discuss preventive techniques with operators.
• Document work orders, parts usage, labor time, fuel, oil, and other consumables in fleet management systems.
• Follow safety policies and procedures while supporting safe and productive fleet operations.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience as a heavy equipment technician.
• Advanced knowledge of air brakes, tires, hydraulics, electrical systems, drivetrains, suspension, steering, and wheel-end components.
• Knowledge of Tier 4 emissions systems.
• Experience applying OSHA Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, and Fire Protection regulations.
• Mechanical trade school certificate or degree, electrical diagnostics certificate, and applicable ASE certifications.
• Welding or fabrication skills and experience.
