Principal Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Oak Brook, Illinois, United States

Salary: $129,700–$226,900 base pay annually, plus benefits, 401(k) contribution, and eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead development of Builder Tools, AI development frameworks, and governed agent platforms.
• Build production-grade agentic systems, including self-healing triage, fix, and watch agents.
• Define platform architecture, technical standards, development lifecycles, and long-term technical direction.
• Drive technical assessments, scope changes, and software design across multiple scrum teams.
• Lead design reviews and technical discussions while collaborating with infrastructure, database, and frontend specialists.
• Mentor engineers and champion effective AI adoption across the Software organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree may substitute for up to two years of job-related experience.
• 12 years of job-related experience.
• Experience building highly scalable and reliable software platforms.
• Experience with Microsoft technologies including .NET, C#, Azure, SQL, and Visual Studio.
• Experience with Git, NoSQL databases, messaging systems, technical documentation, and software development standards.
• Experience defining process improvements, implementing change, researching technologies, and establishing software development lifecycles.
