Technical Trainer (Electric Operations)

Location: Berlin, Connecticut, United States; regular travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire is required. Training takes place at the Berlin CT Training Yard, and emergency restoration assignments may require work outside normal hours and locations.

Annual salary: $133,290–$148,100, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Develop and conduct classroom, hands-on, and on-the-job technical training for electric field personnel.
• Analyze job tasks and field performance with supervisors to identify training needs and define program content.
• Supervise, direct, instruct, and evaluate trainees during apprentice and refresher training.
• Deliver training on pole climbing, aerial devices, high-voltage rubber gloving, wire installation, transformer connections, distribution equipment, troubleshooting, hot-line tools, and pole shifts.
• Provide URD direct-buried training covering cable splicing and termination, print reading, trenching, shoring, and fault locating.
• Maintain standards and procedures, conduct quality assurance audits, evaluate field employees, and support safe work performance.

Requirements

• At least eight years of direct craft experience in transmission, distribution, or field service design, installation, customer service, or employee supervision.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of utility transmission and distribution system design, operations, maintenance, construction principles, safety standards, and business processes.
• Strong communication, presentation, leadership, coaching, and schedule management skills.
• Ability to use desktop applications including Microsoft Word and Excel, with working knowledge of labor contracts.
• Driver’s license required; D.O.T. certification is preferred. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
