Associate Claim Counsel, Bond & Specialty Insurance

Location: Hybrid role based in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, United States, with travel to mediations, conferences, field offices, trials, and depositions

Annual base salary: $89,800–$148,300, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards

What you will do

• Investigate, analyze, evaluate, and resolve lower-severity Bond & Specialty Insurance claims, with a focus on Employment Practices Liability matters.
• Retain and manage outside counsel and vendors, oversee litigation plans and budgets, and negotiate settlements.
• Prepare reports on loss development, financial exposure, and resolution strategies.
• Coordinate recovery efforts and support claim resolution through mediations, settlement conferences, trials, and depositions.
• Provide legal and business support to underwriting colleagues, including reviewing contracts and bond forms and drafting product forms and endorsements.
• Maintain accurate claim documentation, coverage evaluations, correspondence, and compliance with claims procedures and confidentiality standards.

Requirements

• One to five years of relevant legal or claim-handling experience.
• Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor degree.
• Must be properly licensed, registered, or authorized and in good standing to practice law in the jurisdiction where the role is performed.
• Insurance adjuster licenses must generally be obtained within three months of starting, with ongoing continuing education required.
• Strong communication, negotiation, decision-making, time-management, and relationship-building skills.
• Valid driver’s license or access to alternative transportation for required travel.
