Focus on analyzing manufacturing performance, investigating root causes, improving production workflows, and implementing corrective actions across regulated manufacturing operations.

Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States; full-time onsite internship

What you will do

  • Support manufacturing engineering projects that improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory, and productivity.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing routings, work instructions, process documentation, and engineering records.
  • Support workstation, production cell, and facility layout activities focused on workflow, safety, and ergonomics.
  • Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, capacity assessments, and manufacturing performance data analysis.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, kaizen, process improvement, and problem-solving activities.
  • Support troubleshooting, root cause investigations, corrective actions, process validation, quality improvement, and audit readiness.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Completed freshman year and returning to school after the internship.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
  • Must qualify as a US Person because the role may involve information, technology, software, or hardware subject to U.S. export control laws.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or structured problem-solving methods.
  • Experience with CAD tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Experience with manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, testing, laboratory work, or engineering projects.
  • Exposure to ERP systems, Power BI, SAP, or related manufacturing applications.
  • Interest in aerospace manufacturing, operations, and production engineering.
