Director, Business Strategy and Operations (Biopharma)

Location: Hybrid role based in Santa Monica, El Segundo, Thousand Oaks, or Foster City, California, United States; two days remote and three days onsite. The role is expected to move from Santa Monica to El Segundo or Thousand Oaks beginning in January 2027.

Salary: $205,615–$266,090 per year, plus potential bonus, stock-based incentives, paid time off, and benefits.

What you will do

• Advise the US Commercial General Manager through executive insights, recommendations, decision materials, and Board-level communications.
• Translate strategy into priorities, roadmaps, performance measures, operating rhythms, and actionable plans.
• Lead annual strategic, financial, resource, and headcount planning, including the consolidated Plan of Action.
• Design governance structures, planning cycles, quarterly business reviews, and accountability mechanisms.
• Coordinate enterprise and functional initiatives, managing ownership, resources, dependencies, risks, and success measures.
• Drive business performance improvement, organizational effectiveness, major leadership meetings, and cross-functional readiness for US product launches.

Requirements

• Advanced scientific degree and 8+ years of experience, or a master’s degree and 10+ years, or a bachelor’s degree and 12+ years.
• Significant pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical experience leading complex strategic and operational initiatives.
• Experience with business planning, financial and resource analysis, project management, and product profit-and-loss considerations.
• Strong executive presence, judgment, communication, stakeholder influence, and ability to lead without direct authority.
• Experience driving organizational transformation, change management, and operating model effectiveness in complex matrixed environments.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement with three onsite days per week at an applicable California office.
