Director, Portfolio Program Management (Device)

Location: Irvine, California, United States; onsite role.

Salary: $160,500–$305,000 annual base pay.

What you will do

• Lead complex portfolio programs across medical device products, clinical indications, and development projects.
• Partner with asset strategy leaders, planners, project managers, and team co-chairs to define strategy and execution plans.
• Manage cross-functional project plans, milestones, timelines, budgets, risks, and issues.
• Lead project management team collaboration, governance reviews, stage-gate approvals, and key decision points.
• Communicate portfolio status, risks, and decisions to leadership and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior team members and support departmental initiatives and therapeutic area strategy council meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in life sciences, engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8–12 years of experience in medical device and/or pharmaceutical research and development.
• At least 5 years of direct project management experience in drug, device, or product development projects.
• Strong knowledge of global device development, product registration, and launch processes.
• Experience managing complex cross-functional projects with strong communication, stakeholder management, and meeting facilitation skills.
• Proficiency with enterprise-level project and portfolio management tools, analytical skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail.

Nice to have

• PMP certification.
• Experience mentoring or coaching team members.
• Familiarity with governance boards and portfolio-level decision-making.
