Distribution Management Systems Engineer (DMS)

Location: Windsor, Connecticut, with a hybrid schedule requiring at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Employees must be able to work up to five days in the office when needed and travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire.

Annual salary: $100,490–$111,660, commensurate with experience, with potential incentive eligibility.

What you will do

• Support electric system operators by optimizing distribution networks using DMS advanced applications, including AFR, LVM, planned outage studies, and DER/load forecasting.
• Provide subject-matter expertise in ADMS, SCADA, DER dispatching, energy storage, microgrids, Volt/Var Optimization, and load shedding.
• Specify, configure, and enhance DMS functionality in collaboration with system operations, IT, engineering, and control-center teams.
• Develop project approval documentation covering technical solutions, alternatives, risks, budgets, and schedules.
• Research emerging distribution-system technologies and assess modernization opportunities.
• Develop methods and tools to process data from multiple sources and verify engineering models and databases.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• 3–5 years of related experience; engineering design experience is preferred.
• Strong understanding of load flow, voltage regulation, power factor, losses, and load and generation modeling.
• Experience with electric distribution systems and technologies such as DMS, OMS, GIS, SCADA, EMS, and Synergi or CYME.
• Basic understanding of SCADA communication systems and protocols, including DNP, plus strong analytical and presentation skills.
• Valid driver’s license, availability for emergency restoration assignments, and ability to travel by car are required.
