Base salary: $72,400–$90,500 per year, depending on experience and location.

What you will do

  • Perform distribution studies covering voltage, thermal loading, N-1 contingencies, power factor, short circuit, flicker, reliability, and resiliency.
  • Analyze distribution system interconnections for photovoltaic generation, battery storage, and new customer loads across multiple voltage levels.
  • Collaborate on non-wires alternatives, battery storage, smart grids, and grid automation solutions.
  • Apply distribution criteria and utility engineering practices to identify system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Recommend distribution automation devices and develop designs aligned with program objectives.
  • Support storm restoration, internal initiatives, industry activities, and knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required; a power systems concentration is preferred.
  • 0–2 years of industry-related experience; relevant transmission and distribution, protection and controls, or comparable engineering experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of engineering planning, operations, design, analytics, modeling, calculations, construction, and engineering documentation.
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements, including NERC, NPCC, ISO, and PUC standards.
  • Knowledge of power system studies, including power flow, distributed energy resources, voltage, contingency, phase imbalance, power factor correction, short circuit, capacity, and distribution automation.
  • Experience with power system analytics tools such as CYME, PSSE, or ASPEN is valuable.
