Engineer (Electrical Power Systems)

Location: Hybrid role based in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, United States

Salary: $84,800–$116,600 per year, plus a 10% annual bonus for eligible positions

What you will do

• Plan, design, construct, and maintain electric or gas distribution, transmission, substation, and related utility infrastructure.
• Perform engineering studies, technical calculations, specifications, permitting, work packages, and performance evaluations.
• Analyze power flows, electrical and mechanical systems, outage data, and overall system performance.
• Identify and implement improvements to safety, reliability, and grid performance.
• Support cost estimation, budgeting, integrated system planning, field inspections, and project execution.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, construction teams, managers, and external partners; provide storm and emergency coverage when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
• 2–4 years of professional engineering experience.
• Ability to analyze complex electrical and mechanical systems and apply engineering theory, standards, codes, and practices.
• Experience with technical analysis software such as CYMDIST, PSS/E, Python, PLS-CAD, Pole Foreman, Power BI, or similar tools.
• Strong written, oral communication, presentation, report-generation, and technical-writing skills.
• Ability to collaborate with peers and managers, perform needs assessments, and work extended hours during storms or energy delivery emergencies.

Nice to have

• Graduate degree or graduate-level coursework in Engineering, Business Administration, or Project Management.
• Engineer-in-Training certification.
