Operations Manager, Western Operations & Facilities

Location: Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Regular business hours are required, with some irregular hours and regional travel expected. The role oversees bases in Alberton, O’Leary, and Summerside and may require ambulance and emergency scene work.

Salary: CAD 95,000–105,000 annually.

What you will do

• Lead western Island EMS operations and oversee staff across the Alberton, O’Leary, and Summerside bases.
• Manage IEMS facilities, coordinate maintenance, and address operational issues with employees, management, duty officers, and fleet staff.
• Support staff development, recruitment, employee relations, conflict resolution, and operational policy development.
• Oversee paramedic resource deployment, utilization, service efficiency, and the System Status Plan.
• Coordinate major incidents, contingency planning, disaster management, investigations, and public safety activities.
• Provide clinical support and coaching, attend emergency scenes when required, and support the General Manager and Provincial MFR Program.

Requirements

• Current registration or eligibility for registration as a PCP, ICP, or ACP Paramedic in Prince Edward Island is required.
• A minimum of five years of paramedic experience is required.
• Demonstrated leadership, staff development, communication, negotiation, delegation, and dispute resolution skills.
• Knowledge of paramedic scope of practice, operational planning, emergency management, workplace safety, and standard Microsoft Office programs.
• A valid Class 4 driver’s licence in good standing in Prince Edward Island, or equivalent, is required.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, and physical coordination abilities.

Nice to have

• Experience in EMS leadership, information technology, finance, or human resources.
• Incident Command Systems and basic emergency management training.
• Additional disaster management training or willingness to complete it.
• Post-secondary education in Health, Paramedicine, Business Administration, or a related field.
