Senior Financial Analyst (Capital Financial Reporting)

What you will do

• Oversee capital budgeting, forecasting, project life-cycle reporting, and financial analysis for capital projects with a current value exceeding $1 billion.
• Prepare and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual capital financial statements, management reports, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and note disclosures.
• Analyze funding and expenditures against Board of Governors-approved budgets and restrictions attached to funding.
• Develop complex financial models, accounting treatment memos, capital reports, and recommendations related to GAAP, Public Sector Accounting Standards, and IFRS.
• Support year-end audits, interim testing, internal controls, and review of working papers prepared by junior and clerical staff.
• Lead process improvements and system reengineering initiatives while advising management and stakeholders across finance, infrastructure, treasury, government, and audit functions.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
• Completion of the CPA accounting program, including CA, CGA, or CMA.
• At least seven years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in financial reporting, analysis, accounting, auditing, budgeting, or financial planning, preferably in a large private organization or public-sector environment.
• Strong communication, critical-thinking, problem-solving, judgment, attention to detail, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work with senior management and explain complex financial concepts to finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Public Sector Accounting Standards, particularly for capital projects.
• Public practice audit experience.
• Experience working in a unionized environment.
