Associate General Counsel, Reinsurance Regulatory and Compliance (Reinsurance)

What you will do

• Serve as the primary legal contact for the Bermuda Monetary Authority and other relevant regulators.
• Manage regulatory filings, insurance licensing, BMA group supervision transition requirements, and regulatory reporting processes.
• Serve as Chief Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer, coordinating sanctions, financial crime, privacy, data security, and ethics compliance matters.
• Act as Corporate Secretary, preparing resolutions, maintaining meeting minutes, and supporting board governance.
• Draft and negotiate commercial, vendor, IT, employment, and other corporate agreements.
• Advise Human Resources and business stakeholders on Bermuda employment law, investigations, performance management, terminations, reorganizations, benefits, and employment contracts.

Requirements

• Admission to and good standing with the Bermuda bar is required.
• 7–10 years of experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house with a major reinsurance or insurance company.
• Reinsurance experience is required.
• Broad knowledge of Bermuda regulatory and employment laws and regulations.
• Experience with corporate secretarial matters, complex business advice, negotiation, and organizational governance.
• Strong analytical, writing, communication, organizational, and self-management skills; willingness to travel as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience with BMA regulations or a BMA-regulated entity.
• Financial services, insurance claims, underwriting, complex reinsurance transactions, litigation, or claims-related experience.
